What a journey Malavika! So glad to know you've embraced therapy and it has helped you. And mostly, that you've been able to turn around the victimhood mindset, it's something many people don't do in their whole lifetimes!

Fantastic two-act journey into yourself, Malavika. Complex, scary, but also energizing and enriching. Your perspective on your path to acceptance and liberation is interesting and instructive. And made me think of mine. I too come from a culture of therapy demonization, one where it’s considered a mild remedy for the mentally ill (the hard remedy being medicine). I too benefited greatly from it, as a non-mentally ill. You have a way of writing about the most intimate side of yourself that’s so natural and spontaneous. A clear sign of personal progress. Excellent essay.

I sent this to a friend, and told him that your Substack is one of the best places on the internet <3 There's so much you untangle here, so much I resonated with and so much I am yet to explore/learn for myself. Thanks for writing this.

Wow, this is so timely for me, and I feel in such good company with your description of the healing and growth process for yourself as a human. I just published something eerily similar, talking about past bullying experiences growing up and having to come to terms with the extremely limiting stories that have been holding my growth and experience hostage as a result. You do a wonderful and generous job here letting us in to your process. The greatest gift of this kind of writing you've offered is to depict the human commitment to self-honesty and self-exploration and the huge benefits of saying yes to that challenging journey. And yes, I too have found this process to be very bodily, especially related to patterns of breathing, and having to rewire physiologically to inhabit a new story. Yay that you embraced the vulnerability required to share this Malavika. Your story is one that many of us need to hear.
