Hey, thanks for writing back and sorry for replying so late 🙈

Your advise sounds practical, I think I was focussing on intensity a little too much, I recently did 4K in 30 mins, that’s a little improvement but way to go. I’ll think about my goals umm, and I guess substack is not suited for chat lol, I’m at @shivamdwn on twitter :)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m a novice runner, noticed by BPM got very high within 10ish min, now taking it slow. Hopefully I will be able to clock 5k within 20ish mins in next few months. Also curious, do you have any running schedule?

hi Shivam! I don't know how I missed this comment from you - terribly sorry. we should chat about this!

the best running advice I got early in the day is to take it slow. EASY runs is what they call it. the way I did that is to stop worrying about distance, and just ensure I can do 30 min and have fun. observe the trees, plants, sunlight etc. a great strategy while starting out.

now: I'm still nowhere at 5K at 20 min, and I never trained for speed. but this phase depends on one's goals for running. for me, it is a mix of endurance and just getting any kind of mindful outdoor movement in. the way I'm measuring the endurance is if I can run longer distances without my BPM getting beyond 150 at any point. for you, the goals may differ.

Loved understanding better the mind-body connection and how I can apply it to my workouts, thank you for making this!
