Oh wow! I haven't quite read anything that talks about the shame sorroundoing money quite like this. Whatever position you decide to take when it comes to money, there's a catch. Love this!

Thanks for reading, Sri. Feels wild to reflect on the idea that there's no single truth about these things, just the truth that rings true for each of us. Somatically and emotionally. :)

So refreshing to read about the topic that is in everyone's mind in one way or another, but seldom talked about, and in such an open, thoughtful and useful way.

Loved this Malavika, hope your relationship with earning money keeps getting better and better (and hope to keep reading about it)!

Thank youu Oscar. I'll tell you one thing - I didn't think talking about money (when the root causes of our money scripts and money shame are so personal) would be useful! So I'm surprised and more than a little glad to hear that at least a few people thought it is. :)

Thank you for reading as always, and yes, I hope it improves and feels more whole and safe for me too over time.

It IS very useful! And something that society clearly needs more of (just look at what happened with The Psychology of Money), so again, very glad you're talking about this, and also hoping that writing about it has also been helpful for you :)

I'm sure these issues feel very personal to you, but I can't imagine anyone not resonating with the themes you touch on regarding developing stable self-worth, the compulsion to feel needed, and navigating shame around money. I still struggle with all of those! I found this a brave and useful piece of public self-reflection Malavika.

I thought writing a piece where you bare your heart is hard, but not hearing feedback after you do is apparently harder. But then comes Rick - the dream reader of a novice writer, the most encouraging and kindest! So just to say: thank you for reading, thank you for stopping to patiently comment (on all our essays), and thank you for the compliment. To learn that I might be relatable, or that my essay was *useful*, across such a huge disparity in circumstances and context has been encouraging.

Oh gosh do I ever know that uncomfortable feeling of silence when you've laid it all out there. I'm so appreciative of the courage it takes to express as authentically as you have and I don't think you could go wrong by assuming it is very nourishing for many people you will never hear from. It's a leap of faith to keep sharing this way. I'm grateful to see anyone braving that kind of expression. The world needs it.

Thank you for these kind words Rick!

Time to make a scrap book of all your comments so that I can return to them every time I feel like writing's wiping me out :-)

Such a beautiful reflection and one that really resonated with me! I love your conclusion, I strongly believe if you’re doing work you enjoy, and your personal cup is full, you’ll be able to do great things (and get paid for it!) Amazing essay!

Thank you friend! You helped me think through the ending with your comment about having an openness to being paid. And I look forward to making your belief true for my life as well. 2023 goals. :)
