I loved reading this, the format and the theme really stood out to me. I laughed and nodded along with so many of these little moments. It’s nice to have someone else recognize we can have the great and the meh all wrapped into one life.
Haha yes there could not be a more appropriate advertisement for parenting. The Great and the Meh All Wrapped into One Day. I think seeing that takes a mode shift from doing to being, else it's a constant chase of optimising for better, more, harder, stronger, faster. All this "what gets measured gets managed" stuff just tries to wrest way too much control as if life itself is one giant Self Improvement Project. I'm feeling very far away from being able to relate to it, and so when I force myself to do do do, go go go, it's just... like peddling backwards on a downhill street. No fun in the biking, because I'm not noticing the wind in my hair, because I'm just wrapped up in my continuous backwards effort. Or as a friend would put it crudely, with my head up my butt. :D
Thanks for reading, thanks even more for stopping by to comment -- I have been winging it with form, but turns out something innovative follows occasionally. I've missed writing a lot and it's nice when I pop my head back in here and an old friend stops by to read and say hello. Grateful!
